Mercure Vung Tau Hotel

We were looking for a relaxing trip at Vung Tau and found this place. We dressed very casually, T-shirts and shorts and noticed the staff would not offer much help with our backpacks compared to those customers who dressed up nicely. While waiting at the restaurant, we asked one of staff where the private beach was, she immediately said “It’s reserved for in-house guests only, not for outside guests.” We then had to explain that we indeed were staying at the hotel… We felt like guests shouldn’t have to explain themselves to get the service they expected. Then while waiting at the reception, everyone else was offered welcome drinks but us. We didn’t think they’d judge and treat us like that… the very first couple hours with some bad experiences. We’ve been to many resorts in Vietnam and that was the first time we’d been treated like some beggars. The room was nice, spacious and newly renovated. However, the TV wasn’t a smart one, only with cables. It’s not centered with the bed either. The closet and slippers should’ve been near the door not all the way to the other end of the room. The ventilation system was just ok. The sewage was horrible. Just a quick shower and the water couldn’t run and was pooling up near my ankles. The traps should be cleaned more often to prevent clogging. Around midnight, the fire alarm went off. We had to leave our room and wait outside for a while. We heard loud music beforehand and were pretty sure someone was partying and probably smoking inside a room. Some kids looked very high while everyone was waiting for the alarm to stop. What a night! The bright side is the breakfast buffet was good and delicious with traditional dishes.

The hotel boasts a beautiful private beach along with breathtaking ocean views that truly enhance the overall experience. Our room was impressively spacious, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean, making it a very comfortable place to stay. The staff consistently demonstrated a high level of friendliness and attentiveness, which made us feel welcomed throughout our visit. I had the pleasure of speaking with Dat, who stood out for his warm demeanor and genuine helpfulness—he even kindly assisted us with our bags. The location is also a major highlight, as the hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance of the iconic Jesus Christ Statue. Overall, it is a wonderful place to unwind, relax, and fully enjoy a peaceful getaway

Generally this is a nice hotel. Just be careful not to lose your key card. I have been travelling to many countries including Vietnam for decades and this is my first time being charged by hotel for a lost key card. I was not allowed to leave without paying for the lost key card. I know it’s my fault but I have never come across any hotel which requires guests to pay for lost key card. Very unique experience.
