Mercure Villa Romanazzi Carducci Bari

Well what can I say. The Mercure has a reputation for being a hit and a miss and that's on a global scale. This is a hit in my books, from the time you enter the front gates, its such an elegant way to enter your choice of stay. A nicely tucked away location close to the local train station and not too far from local restaurants and grocery stores. Service from front of house is very hospitable. As first impressions last for a very long time. Trust me when I say this. Make this place one of your top choices to stay. From fine dining at Carducci, (and I recommend dinner is wonderful) to a casual relaxing time by the pool, not mention the setting in the background beautifully tranquil. Where this place lacks, it certainly makes up for it in many other areas. 8.5/9 stars for the regular traveller. Mercury Villa Romanaz, I know there's always room for improvements, but remember this, "Beauty always attracts beauty" keep up the work. I will return when im back in the country

We stayed for five nights at the end of March 2026. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, which we appreciated. However, the service from the staff was disappointing. During our stay, only a few reception staff greeted us when we entered or left the hotel. Most of the staff seemed focused on their computer screens, and we did not feel welcome. In the hospitality industry, good service and a friendly attitude are essential, and unfortunately this was lacking. The breakfast did not meet our expectations. It did not match what was shown in the hotel’s pictures or promotional material. The selection felt limited and consisted largely of canned fruit. We would not recommend the hotel breakfast and instead suggest eating breakfast at a café outside the hotel. We were also disappointed that we had to pay for drinking water. On our last evening, we wanted to refill our water bottles but were charged 1 euro per bottle. Charging for water, especially for children, feels unnecessarily stingy for a hotel that claims to be four-star. The soundproofing in the rooms was also poor. We could clearly hear conversations from neighboring rooms, which affected our comfort. Overall, we had a pleasant stay in Italy with very friendly people, but unfortunately the hotel experience did not meet our expectations. We rate the hotel 4 out of 10.

I expected more from this hotel than was delivered. I was staying in a room which was advertised as 'deluxe' (reflected in the price!) but the decor was dated, the shower leaked and there were very small paper cups for tea/coffee. The worst experience was the breakfast room. It was disorganised, chaotic and too small for the number of guests.. There is one coffee machine to serve everyone having breakfast. I am sure anyone reading this review can imagine how long the queues to use it are and how often it needs to be serviced. There also seems to be a problem replenishing food, cutlery and crockery. The only positive thing about this hotel was the delightful lady preparing hot food for guests. I was also surprised that on checking out, the reception team did not ask how I enjoyed the stay. This will not be a hotel I will stay in again.
