We stayed at this hotel for only one night. During check-in, we had a rather unpleasant reception experience that was below the standard one would expect from a hotel in this category. We were poorly assisted by a staff member (an older gentleman) who seemed stressed, rude, and impatient. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay. We did not end up using the onsen, although we heard it is an excellent experience. POSITIVE points: * The room was huge and offered a beautiful view. * Excellent bed linens and bath towels. * We received a welcome drink, as well as another complimentary drink if we chose to dine at the hotel restaurant (which we did). * The hotel restaurant is very good, and the Wagyu beef was delicious. * Excellent shuttle service to and from Gora (be sure to call in advance). * Very spacious bathroom, with a separate toilet area. * Wonderful breakfast. NEGATIVE points: * There is nowhere in the bathroom to hang towels, not even hand towels, which makes it less practical to use. * The hotel did not provide clear information in advance regarding how to use the shuttle service to reach the property. To make matters worse, the hotel did not provide a timely response to an e-mail that I had sent approximately six hours before my arrival asking for information about details on how to use the shuttle service.

We had a very good stay at Hyatt Regency Hakone. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a lot of variety and everything well prepared. The staff was attentive, friendly, and consistently kind throughout the stay. The rooms are large and very comfortable. They feel a little dated in spots, but they are well kept and we had no complaints. The little deck/balcony area with the blinds was especially cute and added to the overall charm. The resort is also very quiet, with beautiful mountain views that make it feel like a true getaway. Because the hotel is set higher up in the mountains, it is a bit out of the way, but they offer a free shuttle that makes getting around much easier. Overall, it was a relaxing and pleasant stay, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Hakone.

The food? Absolutely unreal. Every dish was beautifully crafted, full of flavor, and easily one of the highlights of the trip. The onsen, the views, the calm atmosphere… it all comes together in the best way. A flawless 10/10. Book it!
