Henrietta House, a member of Radisson Individuals

We had a wonderful stay at Henrietta House. The rooms have air conditioning, which was especially nice to come back to on a warm summer’s day. The rooms have a lovely layout and tasteful décor, and although there are some small signs of wear in places, this didn’t affect our stay at all. The beds were very comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep. For parking, we used the Podium Car Park, which was £18 for 24 hours and was a convenient option. We checked into our room and were immediately disappointed by its condition. The room felt dated and in clear need of refurbishment. The chandelier was heavily coated in dust, the carpet was stained, and the bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned to an acceptable standard. In addition, the towel hooks were loose and pulling away from the wall, the windows were dirty, and the bedside tables showed significant wear and water damage. Overall, the room gave the impression that it had been neglected for some time and fell considerably short of the standard we had expected. After raising our concerns with the reception team, they responded professionally and kindly arranged for us to move to an alternative room. While the replacement room was also somewhat tired in appearance, it was at least clean and presented to a noticeably better standard. The staff also offered us two complimentary drinks at the bar as a gesture of goodwill, which was appreciated. However, we chose not to accept the offer, as our concerns were primarily about the condition of the accommodation rather than seeking compensation, and we did not wish to create additional inconvenience for the team. As someone who works with hundreds of hotels and collaborates closely with many Radisson hoteliers, I have a strong understanding of the standards typically associated with the brand and the wider four-star market. Unfortunately, this experience has negatively impacted my perception of the hotel and, to some extent, the wider group. Given the rate charged and the expectations that naturally accompany a Radisson-branded property, the standard of accommodation we encountered fell well below what most guests would reasonably expect from a four-star hotel. While the staff handled the situation professionally, the underlying condition of the property is not reflective of the quality, consistency, and attention to detail that the brand is generally known for.
