Ii cannot say enough wonderful things about this experience. The accommodations were awesome and the staff beyond helpful And considerate and kind. The nice little touches like the chef discussing our preferences and portion sizes to the intimate fires and cakes with singing for my retirement to the hot water bottles in our beds every night that surprisingly stayed warm even until morning. Our guide Benjamin was beyond my wildest dreams as far as knowledge and experience and ensured with patience we saw all we desired and created beautiful photo ops. It was sad to have to leave as everyone made you feel so welcomed and respected. Experience of a lifetime

An exceptional lodge that truly prioritises the guest experience. Despite its remote location (quite literally along sand river with stunning views), the quality of the food, service, and overall hospitality was outstanding. The staff were incredibly attentive, organised, and dedicated to ensuring every guest felt well cared for. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth made the stay unforgettable. A remarkable experience that I would highly recommend and one that is absolutely worth experiencing.

I cannot recommend Elewana Sand River enough — just book it, blindly. Our guide Joel and our butler Juma made this the trip of a lifetime, and the managers Hannah and Scott were absolutely fantastic. A note that really mattered to us as a family: the property is split into Big Sand and Little Sand, with separate dining areas. Our room was at the far end, technically closer to Little Sand, and the walk back through the bush at night — even with the night guards escorting you — genuinely terrified our young daughter. We simply asked if we could dine at Little Sand instead, and they accommodated it without hesitation. Traveling with a 7 and 10 year old, that kind of flexibility means everything. Joel suggested an 11-hour game drive to cover more ground. Honestly, no one expects to do that with two young kids — but we completely trusted him, and it turned out to be the best experience of the whole trip. The kids were absolutely fine, he kept us captivated with facts the entire time, and his patience was unreal. He was determined we'd find all of the Big Five, and thanks to his knowledge of the area, we even spotted the elusive leopard! Not once but 2 different leopards! The food deserves its own mention. Juma made sure the kids were pampered at every meal. I celebrated my 40th birthday here, and they organized a beautiful bush sundowner with exceptional food — and Dan at the bar made sure my wine glass was never empty. The love, hospitality, and warmth here are truly exceptional. We left with the most incredible memories. Do not think twice — stay at Elewana Sand River.
