Gardenia Sorrento Coast, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Chef Tiziana made us the best meal we had while in Italy! The mussels are the best I’ve ever had and I grew up eating them fresh on the New England coast. The pasta was perfect; our group of 6 tried the ziti, lasagna, gnocchi, and ravioli. Everyone agreed it was the best we had while in Italy and we had been to a lot of popular local spots in Rome and the Anthony Bourdain recommended Roma Sparita. The entire staff is kind and welcoming. The AC is also great to come back to after exploring in the heat of the summer.

We had a wonderful week in Hotel Gardenia. The staff gave us a wonderful welcome, with complimentary lemonade on arrival. We booked an ocean view room with a balcony, and it was worth it for the view. The room had air conditioning and a small fridge. The bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was lovely and the staff couldn't have been kinder. There was a wonderful array of pastries and sweet food as well as fruit, yoghurt, hot food, juices and more. The pool is shared with the hotel next door and was perfectly maintained, with a small bar. There was always sun beds available and no 'hogging' that I have seen in other hotels. The pool side food was surprisingly nice with pizzas, sandwiches and salads, as well as drinks, crisps and ice cream. The reception staff kindly helped us book a tour, and it's one of the best we have done so far. Taxis were quite expenses at €20-€25 each way but the hotel was only a 15 minute walk from the start of the main restaurant/shop area.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Gardenia and would happily return on my next visit to Sorrento. This wasn’t my first time here—I also stayed at Hotel Gardenia with my family shortly after my wedding, and returning reminded me exactly why I loved it so much. The owners and the entire staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making every guest feel genuinely cared for from the moment they arrive. Their hospitality is second to none, and they are always happy to help with recommendations, transportation, or anything else you may need. One of my favorite parts of each morning was the delicious breakfast. There was an excellent variety of fresh options, wonderful pastries, and delicious cappuccinos—the perfect way to start the day before exploring Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, and I especially appreciated having access to the lovely pool, which was the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The hotel also made traveling incredibly easy by arranging reliable transfers to Naples Airport as well as destinations along the Amalfi Coast, such as Positano. It made getting around completely seamless and stress-free. What truly makes Hotel Gardenia special is its people. The owners and staff go above and beyond to ensure every guest has a memorable stay, and their genuine kindness creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming from beginning to end. I highly recommend Hotel Gardenia to anyone visiting Sorrento and look forward to returning again in the future!
