Xi'an's ancient city wall, dating from the 14th century, is a broad stone road that runs right around the old town. Pedalling along the top, you see rooftops of the old city on one side and modern towers on the other, two eras in one ride.
Wear comfortable shoes and sportswear, and bring water and a hat, as there is little shade. Stop whenever you like for photographs.
