The Uros Islands on Lake Titicaca are floating islands woven from totora reeds. As the boat pulls in you see reed houses, a surface that gives slightly underfoot and the daily life of local families. The low horizon of the lake and the high-altitude light give the scene its own tone.
Puno is high, so the sun feels strong and a hat and sun cream are a must. The lake can be windy, so bring a jacket.
