The experience

About this experience

Tirta Empul is a Balinese temple known for sacred pools fed by spring water. Visitors watch people move in turn through the pools for purification, in line with local belief. It is a quiet, respectful and observational visit, so remember that it is a place of worship.

Clothing must cover shoulders and knees, and a sarong may be requested. If you wish to enter the pools, follow the guidance and bring a spare change and a towel. Do not photograph people in the ritual without permission.
