Terracotta Army underground warrior statues in Xi'an
Xi'an · China
About this experience
The Terracotta Army in Xi'an is a UNESCO World Heritage site, often called the eighth wonder of the world. It was built to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, 2,200 years ago.
For most of that time it lay buried beneath the ground. Today you look down into the excavation pits at ranks of life-sized warriors, and the scale is what stays with you.
