Traditional oak cask cooperage demonstration at Speyside Cooperage

Whisky begins with the cask it will mature in. At this craft workshop in Speyside, you watch coopers shape oak staves and tighten them with hoops, then repair older casks. Hammer blows, the smell of wood and plenty of hand skill make it a rare look behind the scenes of a famous drinking region.

The workshop floor is working ground, so wear flat, closed shoes. Follow the staff's guidance before taking photographs near the work area.
