Step Pyramid of Djoser visit in Saqqara

At Saqqara, the Step Pyramid of Djoser is among the oldest monumental stone structures known in Egypt. Built in six steps, it draws a low outline on the desert, with courtyards and colonnaded passages around it. It is a quieter historical stop away from the crowds of Giza.

Shade is scarce, so bring a hat, water and sunscreen. Closed shoes help on sand and stone. Touring with a guide brings out the meaning of the structures. Being away from Giza's crowds makes wide frames easier to capture.
