Unfinished giant Moai statues at Rano Raraku rock quarry
Easter Island · Chile
About this experience
Rano Raraku on Easter Island is the quarry on a volcanic slope where the Moai statues were carved. On the hillside you can see half-finished figures still attached to the rock, and others standing among the grass. Trying to understand how they were made offers a strong clue to the island's history.
Wear sturdy shoes and bring a hat, sun cream and water, as wind and sun are strong in the open.
