A boat tour on the turquoise waters of Issyk-Kul, ringed by mountains, shows how vast the lake is. Snowy peaks stand on the far shore, birds skim the water and a short wake trails behind. The taste of the wind and the sound of the water are the tour itself.
The boat trip lasts two hours. It can be windy and cool on the lake, so bring a windproof jacket plus sunscreen and a hat. The trip runs in spring, summer and autumn, and on a clear day the mountains reflect more sharply in the water.
