Near Sintra, Cabo da Roca is a rocky headland on the westernmost edge of mainland Europe, facing the Atlantic. The wind rarely drops, waves break on the rocks far below and the horizon really does look like the end of the continent. It is a short, open stop built around the view.
The cape is exposed and the wind can be cool, so bring a jacket even in summer. The light near sunset is among the best for photos. Keep a safe distance from the cliff edge.
