Gaze at the smiling stone faces of Bayon Temple
Siem Reap · Cambodia
About this experience
Bayon Temple stands at the centre of Angkor Thom, its towers carved with giant smiling stone faces on all four sides. The faces change expression with shade and light, and together with bas-reliefs of daily life on the walls they make the temple feel alive.
Clothing that covers shoulders and knees is required. Bring a hat, water and non-slip shoes, as steps are steep and surfaces rough. Afternoon light casts good shadows across the faces.
