In rural Bali, rice terraces set step by step into the hillsides stretch green as far as you can see. You walk the paths and watch the water channels and farmers at work from a distance. It is an easy day outing for understanding the island's farming culture and its calmer side.
Terrace edges can be wet and muddy, so wear shoes with grip. Water and a hat are a must at midday. Early mornings are cooler and give softer light for photographs.
