Bukhara Guide 2026
Bukhara is a city in south-western Uzbekistan on the Silk Road, with a history of more than two thousand years. Its old town is full of madrasas, minarets and market domes, and most of the buildings are close enough to visit on foot.
What to see in Bukhara
- The Kalyan Minaret: the brick minaret that shapes the skyline of the old town.
- The Ark Fortress: the fortified former seat of government.
- Lyabi Hauz: a square around a pool, with tea houses and trees.
- The market domes: domed bazaars at old trade crossings, now selling crafts.
