The Breakers Diving & Surfing Lodge

Everything about The Breakers is absolutely top-notch (1A) with zero complaints. Rooms & Cleanliness: The rooms are super spacious, comfortable, and flawlessly clean. Staff & Service: The entire team is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. Food: The food is excellent and high quality. You can safely eat anything you want and truly enjoy it! Organization: The whole hotel is exceptionally well-managed and perfectly organized. For Divers: The on-site Orca Dive Club is fantastic. Having it directly connected to the hotel makes the entire experience seamless. Just like the hotel itself, the dive school is highly professional and perfectly organized. Highly recommended – we will definitely be back!

I’ll start with the single positive. The diving is genuinely good. The house reef is beautiful, and our guide Ahmed Farouk was fantastic, knowledgeable, professional, and the best part of the whole trip. If you’re a diver, know that you can access the house reef as a non-hotel guest, so you don’t need to stay here to enjoy it. That’s where the good news ends. The diving operation itself is poorly run. The diving manager is a mess and disorganized throughout. Far more serious: on day four, my girlfriend had to be taken to the hospital with severe food poisoning, and I came down with a strong fever. We weren’t alone. 4 of the 6 people in our group got sick. That’s not bad luck, that’s a food safety problem. To top it off, after half our group had been ill, I just wanted a relaxing trip back and paid double for a “VIP” airport transfer. What showed up was the exact same car that had picked us up on arrival. Same vehicle, twice the price. 🤡 Skip the hotel. Dive the reef as a day guest if you want, and stay somewhere else.

We stayed here for 10 days on Juli for a diving vacation. The hotel is beautifully designed with a pool, restaurant, beach bar and an integrated diving hub. The staff is beyond friendly. Not just polite but attentive, fun and on a personal level really nice. By the end of our stay everyone knew us by name and we knew everyone by name in return. The food is outstanding! They have a different theme every day of the week and the buffet has some variety without overwhelming you or risking too much food waste (there is always some good waste but it’s not comparable with the giant hotels). The rooms are beautiful and squeaky clean every day, as are all other facilities. It’s just overall a really nice resort that gives you an bit of the vibe of a smaller boutique hotel. The diving base is great; everyone is very professional and knowledgeable and we enjoyed our stay immensely!
