Shangri-La Rasa Ria

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We spent 5 wonderful nights at this beautiful resort with our two children, aged 7 and 9. We stayed in an Ocean Wing Family Room on the ground floor with direct access to the pool. Our stay was simply exceptional. The resort is stunning, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the pools are beautiful and impeccably maintained, and the beach is absolutely lovely. What truly makes this resort special is the staff. Every member of the team was friendly, attentive, professional, and always willing to help with a smile. The level of service was outstanding from the moment we arrived until we left. This is exactly what you expect from a true five-star resort. Our only small suggestion for improvement concerns the evening dining options. Although there are several restaurants on the property, we found it difficult to find simple meals suitable for picky children, such as pasta, pizza, or chicken nuggets. Fortunately, it was very easy to order food through Grab and have it delivered directly to the resort. We leave with wonderful memories and would not hesitate to return. We had a great family vacation at Shangri La Rasa Ria. We booked it at the last minute and got large ocean view rooms which were a bomb on the pocket but a great experience nevertheless. The goods: 1. Great family friendly place with plenty of activities including free and paid. I especially enjoyed the fire show and golf putting with my son. 2. Good breakfast spread - there was some decent Indian spread too (dosa/idli for breakfast would be a stupendous addition). 3. Great service - everyone from reception desk to restaurant to pool to activities were super helpful and welcoming. Special thanks to Azri/Adrian from egg counter (probably the busiest job during such a peak holiday period) and Michael from the coffee terrace restaurant for special care shown for our dietary needs. 4. Big and beautiful property - plenty to walk but largely fun. 5. Good gym for a hotel - decent machines and weights collection. What doesn’t work so well: 1. Distance from city: every decision to travel to city for food or tourism is technically 2 hr return travel decision - we compromised a couple of meals to avoid the travel. 2. Price point: Everything was heavily priced for the star rating and distance from the city. 3. Limited vegetarian eating options - the staff really try to help but it is inherently limited. Overall a great stay and would recommend this if spending time in the resort for vacation is your thing.

The hotel itself is lovely - pools are nice and the areas are well maintained - but the rooms do need a refurb especially for the prices you pay. It is also a long way from KK - not a bad thing - just bear that in mind as there aren’t local restaurants and the ones on site are expensive. We used grab for our evening meals and saved £££s! Kids pool area was nice and they had a great time here every day. The wildlife area is well looked after with some interesting information. The beach is lovely - but the sea is rough and quite a walk from the resort. There are lots of posters everywhere about sandflies but we weren’t affected by them
