Radisson Blu Hotel Papirfabrikken Silkeborg

Anni provided stellar customer service despite our late night arrival, answering questions from our American party about the local area, the language, and the basic cultural customs! She upgraded our room and explained that the hotel would be shutting down in a few days for Christmas, something we hadn't been aware of. Christian was more difficult on the night shift, getting short with us after we decided to book online for a better rate once we pulled out our phone calculator and determined the price (he only gave it to us in Danish crowns) to book in person was prohibitively expensive compared with booking online. Elisabeth was as pleasant as Anni when we met her in the morning shift, helping point is to breakfast and easing our check-out process. Overall, a very positive experience.

Hotel is in a great location, close to all the shops and restaurants and overlooks the beautiful river. Staff was friendly and breakfast is decent. Rooms are clean but very bland, very bare minimum. I FaceTimed my wife and she said it looked like I was in a prison. Everywhere I walked in the room, the floor and wooden built-ins squeaked and creaked. When I tried using the steam iron for my clothes, the lights would flicker or shut off completely (see video), so I had to iron in the dark and use my phone as a flashlight. A bit ridiculous.

Lived there several times and the rooms are great. There's free parking close to the hotel if you park over night and free parking via the Hotel (you type in at a iPad by the reception) in a nearby Parking building. The breakfast is very boring, not much to choose from. From all the Radisson hotels I have stayed this breakfast was absolutely the worst. The quality is ok for what there is. You have to pay 500DKK in deposit that gets returned at check out - weird thing in 2026.
