Parkhotel Valkenburg

The extras were quite nice - pool, wellness, spa, and fairly good food too. But there's just so much lacking in the basics: 1. There was a bottle of water in the fridge upon arrival. Nice enough gesture, except that there was mold of the cork. 2. The bathroom very clearly had mold in the grout, around shower screen rails, and around the top of the walls. 3. The door to the room was inadequate sealed. It made it very loud at all hours of the day and light shone through at night. On the website it states that they cannot do anything about it, since it's a national monument bulld. But frankly, that's a poor execuse - by the same logic, the doors should still use regular keys and not key cards. It is indeed possible to get properly sealed doors and preserve the style. 4. The ceiling in the pool area could use a good bit of maintenance and the bottom of the pool could use a splash of paint. 5. We had a bit of a hit-and-miss with the service. Mostly it worked out fine, but we felt a lack of info upon check-in and had some miscommunication with house keeping. In summary, it's a pleasant hotel, but there's quite some room for improvement. Especially given the price.

The hotel used to be a nice one but it is now in dire need of renovation. The rooms are almost falling apart; everything is so old. The towel in our room had holes in it! We had a Deluxe room which was a standard room in every hotel; nothing extra about it. It is close to the village center, walking distance which is great. It is also quite noisy, you can hear everything in the corridor. The pillows were very uncomfortable.

I stayed 3 nights in a comfort deluxe room which was alright. The building itself is very beautiful and has a lot of history to it. The hallways, entrance and outside reflect the history of the building well. It is well preserved. The rooms are alright. The beds were clean and very comfortable and so was the bathroom. It even came with a minifridge with complimentary cold water. The rooms dont have AC but being the building as old as it is and it being a national monument I can't complain. I stayed with temperatures above 35c and it was not bad. They have us two high power fans so a 10 for the effort and I really appreciated it. The service was very good. The breakfast for €25 a day per person is too high. The breakfast was good but I feel €15 would have been more fair to charge. The sauna was very good. Clean and no complaints there. The pool could use a slight touch up in the maintenance but was acceptable. The location is great. All the attractions you can do in and around Valkenburg are on walking distance. Town center is just 5 minutes away.
