Kachina Lodge

Worth the cost for family. 2 adults and 2 teens. Ok, I'm not suppose to mention they have adjoining rooms, but they do. However, normally the best they can do is side by side. But even separated is great. I got adjoining likely because of gas prices, but that wont affect my review. Location: can't be beat for the cost. We did NOT have a view room, but you walk 50 ft and you are at the rim of the grand canyon. Parking. Get there early, don't move the car, take the shuttle. There is no better parking than the space you have. You are near the shuttles. A short walk and you can get any shuttle ready location in the park. And you don't lose your parking space to the devils chariots (rental RVs). If you have mobility issues, its better than the demon steps to the El Tovar. I made both, you can too. Staff is awesome, but check in was late. It was suppose to ready by 4pm, we didn't get it until later. But we shuttled around hence it will work out. Pizza joint is great. Learn how the shuttles work. You won't be wasting time. I will stay here again.

Location is unbeatable as the lodge is right on the edge of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Rooms will definitely need to be renovated sooner or later as they are no longer up to current standards, but the location and staff friendliness is worth the five stars. Check in and check out together with restoration services are dealt with by the nearby (walking distance) El Tovar Hotel.

EXCELLENT location on the canyon rim and next door to the El Tovar Lodge (great restaurant and lounge). Just a few steps for sunrises and sunsets without having to take the shuttle. Rooms are older, but adequate and clean (there are two side chairs/table and desk as well). Bed and pillows were comfy too. Easy walk to Blue and Red Shuttles. Parking is terrible though, but we finally found a spot our 2nd time through the area, and did not move the car again until we left.
