Excellent, attentive service and top-notch à la carte menu. Cocktails all round to start including a Boulevardier Negroni which hit the spot. I can recommend the Tempura Cod starter, beautifully translucent flakes set against sharp soy sauce and wasabi. My son (whose birthday it was) and I enjoyed sirloin with Béarnaise sauce, and it was all washed down with a Sicilian red, Nero D'Avola. Prices reflect the unbeatable setting overlooking the Avon Gorge and the exquisite food; but worth it for a treat.

We’ve stayed at Avon Gorge Hotel du Vin on multiple occasions now, and it has consistently been excellent every time. My partner and I keep coming back because everything is always so well done — from the service to the rooms to the overall atmosphere. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, and they always make you feel comfortable and well looked after without it feeling over the top. The rooms are stylish, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel has a really nice balance of relaxed and refined. The location is also a real highlight, with incredible views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge that make every stay feel a bit more special. We always leave really happy with our stay and are already looking forward to coming back again soon. It’s definitely a very special place for us.

My first time visiting Bristol — and it does make you wonder why we so often travel further afield when there is so much to explore on our own doorstep. Naturally, being the adventurer (and foodie) that I am, I did a little research beforehand to find the iconic spots to see in the area. The Clifton Suspension Bridge was an obvious first stop. I also wanted somewhere for a good lunch with a view, and stumbled across what felt like a bit of a gem: Hotel du Vin at Avon Gorge. Parking was relatively easy to find on the street nearby, around £5 for two hours. Walking into the hotel, the doors glide open into a striking, elegant lobby space. There is an immediate sense of grandeur, with a light-filled room overlooking the bridge, complemented by stylish interiors. Continuing through to the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by attentive staff who showed us to a table with a view. That said, honestly, every table feels like a good one here — the restaurant is beautifully designed with large glass windows framing the Clifton Suspension Bridge on one side and rolling green hills on the other. It really is a special setting, and there is also a spacious outdoor terrace for warmer days. We enjoyed a very good two-course lunch, which felt like excellent value at £24.50, with an optional glass of house wine or beer for £3. The food was well presented and enjoyable, but what really elevates the experience is the setting. The staff were immaculately presented, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive — which made the whole experience feel relaxed yet polished. Overall, a wonderful lunch in a standout location.
