The best experience in the city! After staying at the Crowne Plaza, the Radisson, and the Ibis, I can say with total confidence that this hotel outperforms them all in the most important way: human warmth. It was the only place where I was always greeted and assisted with a genuine smile from the people working here (all girls). Everything was impeccably clean and perfectly maintained. The gym it is actually better equipped and clraner than the one at the Radisson. I absolutely loved the experience and highly recommend it. I will definitely be back

Stayed there for a night to get my flight. 25 mins on foot from the Terminal. Clean and relatively spacious rooms, separate WC from the shower. Quiet street, quarter around is safe and nice to walk a bit. Large wood for some outdoor walking at 10 min walk. Good food options all around. Gym is sufficient (older equipment). Free tea & water is nice. Would recommend it for a quick overnight stay.

Stayed here for a night before my flight. Check in was easy and there were multiple parking lots available. However, the aircon in the room wasn’t working and when we entered, there was a very stale smell in the room. We wanted to change rooms but the reception was closed as it was at night. (When we checked in, we dropped our luggages and left immediately). Other than the aircon and smell issue, the room and amenities were nice and just enough. They provided tea, coffee and a microwave on the first floor.

Zurich

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. It sits at the northern tip of Lake Zurich and spreads along both banks of the Limmat River. If you want a lake, a river and a first look at the Alps in a short trip, it is a sensible place to start.

More about the city

What to see in Zurich

  • The old town and the Limmat bank: narrow lanes, bridges over the river, and the Grossmünster and Fraumünster churches.
  • Bahnhofstrasse: the main shopping street, running down towards the lake.
  • Lake Zurich: a walk along the shore or a boat trip.
  • The Rhine Falls and Lucerne: both appear as day programmes in MBD tours from Zurich.

When to go

In July and August the average high is 25 degrees. In June and July rainfall passes 140 millimetres a month, so pack a rain jacket for summer. January averages a high of 4 and a low of minus 2 degrees. Christmas market tours in November and December include Zurich.

Getting there from Turkey

Most MBD tours that include Zurich are Dream Triangle tours, which join Switzerland, France and Germany on one route. They depart from four cities (Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya), run 3 to 4 nights, and fly with Turkish Airlines or SunExpress. Dates and prices are on each tour page.

Who it suits

Travellers who want several cities in a short time, and those who like a city with nature close by. If you plan a long stay in Zurich alone, compare hotel prices first.

Questions people ask

How many days do I need? Two days cover the city. Add one more for Lucerne and the Rhine Falls.

Where can I stay? MBD lists Baur Au Lac, The Dolder Grand and Widder as 5-star hotels, and Hotel Schweizerhof Zürich and Opera Hotel Zürich as 4-star hotels.

Is there an Alps tour? The three-night Alps tour, 8 Cities in the Alps, leaves from Istanbul with Turkish Airlines.
