Stayed 10th - 13th August 2026, booked in advance by phone. Group allocated 3 adjacent twin rooms on 2nd floor. Pros: Located close to taxi rank and Lime Street Station. Check-in quick and smooth, receptionist didn't ask aloud for personal details. Beds clean and comfortable, safes in rooms for valuables. Rooms a little dated but spotlessly clean; were cleaned daily by a cheerful man, complimentary drinks tray and toiletries refilled daily - public areas also immaculate. No air con in rooms, large fans provided. Corridor very quiet at night - didn't hear other guests. Two small but functional lifts. Didnt try the restaurant. Seagulls unexpectedly knocked on bedroom windows and looked in from outside - caused great mirth! Cons: Limited electrical sockets in rooms, none near beds. External decking on an incline, care needed when carrying drinks from bar. No advertised gift shop - would've bought souvenirs. Overall: Excellent value for money, cleanliness couldn't be faulted, ideally located. I would highly recommend The Liner and will happily stay there again.

The rooms are a little tired and ours had no air conditioning and overlooked Liverpool Lime Street railway station, so we were well versed on the regular announcements! All the staff we encountered were great. The breakfast was reasonable value for money. They have their own car park next door which is very handy.

The rooms were clean, tidy and well laid out, with good space. The location was perfect for us, in easy walking distance of the city and very close to the theatre. It has everything expected of a relatively modern (second half of the 20th century) hotel. The public areas have air conditioning but the rooms do not. It appears that they were originally fitted with aircon but, in a more recent refit, this was deemed unnecessary so has been blocked off. For most of the time in the UK, this is acceptable but, it does seem like the fan system for the aircon also provided power to the bathroom extractor fans which didn't work. After complaining about a couple of things in our first room, we were moved to another, on a different floor, so I am pretty sure it's not a single room or area issue. This is a very reasonably priced hotel and is thoroughly adequate for the price. Breakfasts and restaurant were OK too.
