NH Barcelona Eixample

My experience at the NH Barcelona Hotel was quite disappointing. From the very first day, I informed the reception staff that the shower was not working properly because the water was not draining and kept accumulating while I was showering. Despite reporting the issue several times, it took three days before I was finally offered a different room. Another major issue was the poor soundproofing. You can hear everything from the hallways, especially the housekeeping staff early in the morning. Conversations and other noises from outside the room are clearly audible, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Housekeeping was also far below expectations. During my 7-day stay, my room was cleaned only twice. Even on the days it was cleaned, housekeeping often did not arrive until around 4:00–5:00 p.m., which is far too late for a hotel of this standard. The only positive aspect of my stay was the breakfast, which offered a good variety of food and was enjoyable. Overall, I expected much better from an NH Hotel. The delayed response to a basic maintenance issue, poor soundproofing, and inadequate housekeeping made my stay far below expectations. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Hotel is clean and tidy, but room was a bit "worn." There were a couple of broken tiles in bathroom, silicone around bath going mouldy in a couple of small spots, wallpaper lifting at all of the seams on one wall, I think the roof must have leaked at one point as the ceiling had a slight patch that looked like a water stain but overall the room was clean and house keeping was very efficient. The breakfast had a lovely selection, bread & pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurts, and some hot food as well as cheeses, cold meats etc. Staff were all very pleasant and very helpful. Nice hotel, not sure if it would be my destination of choice but was a pleasant trip

We booked a Double Superior Room with terrace, plus a guaranteed cot/crib for our baby. Accessibility:*Several steps at the main entrance and on the way to the breakfast room, with no accessible alternative — difficult if you're travelling with a stroller or even heavy luggage Check-in:The agent was polite and professional. The city tax wasn't itemized but the total charged was correct. However, we were told at check-in that we had to choose between the cot or the terrace room — not both — despite booking both. We were also told the bed was 180cm wide; it turned out to be 150cm. That first night, around 1am, it became clear two adults and a baby, didn't fit in the bed. The night-shift staff managed to fit a cot after all. The next day, we asked a manager for an explanation, since this contradicted what we'd been told at check-in — no explanation was given, only a refund for that night. Room condition: Amenities were fine, but there was visible humidity damage near the terrace door, with the wallpaper coming unglued. Soundproofing was poor — we could hear neighbours through the walls, and a gap under the door let in corridor light and noise. The air conditioning was very strong even on its lowest setting. Breakfast: Good variety, no complaints here. Service: Asked reception for an iron on two separate evenings around 9pm; both times told they had none left. Not sure how many the hotel stocks, but evidently not enough. Summary: Friendly staff, but the discrepancy between what was promised and what was delivered at check-in, combined with maintenance and soundproofing issues, made this a disappointing stay for the price point.
