I had stayed at Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Malabata Tanger before, and my previous experience was simply average, nothing particularly good or bad. Unfortunately, this second visit was extremely disappointing and honestly far below what I would expect from a hotel carrying the Mövenpick name. I arrived around 2:00 PM directly from the airport and checked in. The first surprise was finding two single beds instead of the one large bed I had requested. I was tired from traveling and decided not to make an issue out of it. All I wanted was to take a shower and get some sleep. Then I went into the bathroom and discovered there were NO TOWELS AT ALL. I immediately called and requested towels. Nothing came. I waited for some time, then eventually left the hotel to have lunch and do some shopping. I assumed that by the time I returned, such a basic request would obviously have been taken care of. I came back later that evening and, unbelievably, still no towels. Around 8 hours had passed since my original request. I called again. No answer. I tried again. Still no answer. At that point, I had to physically go downstairs to reception just to ask for towels. The receptionist made a call and assured me that everything was taken care of and that the towels would be sent to my room. So I went back upstairs… and waited again. And waited. I was literally starting to fall asleep when someone finally knocked on the door and delivered the towels. After all of that waiting, there wasn’t even a bathrobe, just the towels. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t stop there. The overall condition of the room was also very disappointing. One of the electrical sockets was coming out of the wall with wiring visible, several lights were not working, and the television looked like something straight out of the early 2000s. I genuinely couldn’t believe this was the standard of a Mövenpick hotel. I can understand that mistakes happen. A wrong bed configuration can happen. Someone can forget to put towels in a room. But what I cannot understand is how a guest can report such a simple problem immediately after check-in and still be waiting hours later, despite calling multiple times and eventually having to go to reception personally. This was not the level of service, room maintenance, or attention to guests that I expected. For the price and the reputation of the Mövenpick brand, the experience was simply unacceptable. I came back because my first stay was fine. After this experience, however, I would seriously think twice before staying here again. Very disappointing.

Arrived with some trepidation after some of the reviews, but needn't have worried, this is an excellent luxury hotel, staff were attentive and friendly, the food is excellent, whatever they pay the chef they earn it. The impressive Foyer is modern and comfortable, the hotel has stunning views all round. The pool is amazing with beautifuly attended gardens. We paid for a Deluxe room but we're a bit disappointed so asked for a change. The room we were offered and accepted was large and very comfortable. Other rooms in the hotel may need upgrading to this standard. Only other criticism was lack of welcome book giving essential information without having to continually ask the friendly staff. Location wise, it is opposite a beautiful park but requires taxi to Medina etc, but only 10 mins and reasonably priced. All in all would recommend for relaxing stay.
