La Rosa Muerta Hotel (The Dead Rose Hotel) wins the award of the worst hotel experience I ever had, I had originally booked 2 nights and then cancelled the second. Here's why: 1. Reception: The receptionist (Indian) that I met at check in took him about 15-20 min to check me in (I had returned from a 10-hour long tour on that day). He has no sense of customer service etiquette, no smile, no welcome, no info about the service hours and hotel facilities (I had to ask about everything), nothing! I did meet two other Omani receptionists during my stay and upon check out, both seemed the same. On the same night I went down to cancel my second night, the only thing the receptionist had to say was: ok, at check out tomorrow we'll give you your money back. He didn't even bother to ask why. At checkout, same story, they took the key, handed me my money and that was it! No "we hope you had a good stay", no "we hope we see you again", no smiles no welcoming spirit nothing!. 2. Housekeeping: After getting into the room, like many others, I didn't find any towels in the bathroom. I called reception, and after 30 minutes I only received one shower towel, the housekeeper (Indian), with no Arabic language and very poor English, said that they don't offer hand towels that he will get me a floor towel, I still requested a hand towel and asked it to figure it out. I then called reception again, he confirmed that they don't have hand towels, so I asked him to send me another shower towel to use as a hand towel. 23 minutes later, housekeeper comes with only the floor towel, and we had to argue about the other towel which the receptionist didn't inform him about, for the record, I never received the other towel. The housekeeper had zero customer service skills, once he got me my first towel, he didn't even greet me and tried to hand me the towel from a distance. No smiles, no welcoming spirit, just 95 kilos of attitude. 3. HYGIENE: you may take a look at the pictures and decide for yourself. Floor was sticky (my slippers were sticking to the floor - I couldn't upload the video), corners were disgusting, hair in each corner, mold growing in the sink and around the tub, toilet seat not cleaned properly, glass cup unusable, tea cup had dry tea marks inside and was still wet I could swear it was rinsed only and not washed. Curtains and walls had so many stains and marks, and my bed sheet had a big mark on it. Not to mention, that the shower towel they gave me was drenched in Chlorine odor that I could undeniably say it came straight from the pool hamper. During my one night stay, I didn't make tea, and I ended up using my own beach towel because I couldn't take risks. I also didn't order breakfast from the kitchen because if what you see is as disgusting as this, then imagine how unhygienic the things you don't see will be. I didn't try the pool for the same reason. 4. Bed: When I lied down, metal springs were literary on the surface of the mattress, it felt like sleeping on gravel. On the next morning, I lifted the mattress only to see that they had put the soft side down! 5. Amenities: You will get 2 small water bottles, 2 tea bags & sugar, 2 1.5 gram soap bars, and 2 shampoos. No slippers, no coffee, no shower gel, no vanity kit, and no toothbrush & paste. 6. Furniture: old, stained and damaged in some part. Bathroom sink was falling apart. Tub had a hole in it. Bathroom ceiling panels were peeling off and were dirty. 7. Appliances: Light was very dim. I saw through all this dirt on this dim light, imagine had it been a bright one what else would I have seen. The phone malfunctioned many times, it doesn't ring & didn't connect my call to the reception 4 out of 5 times that i had to call the hotel number to reach them from my phone. Sockets are below the bedside cabinets, you have to dock down to reach them, very inconvenient location. Coffee Water heater looked fine (but after all that, I doubt it). Shower water heater worked fine. The only +ve thing I experienced, was that they gave me my money back for the 2nd cancelled night!

That sounds like a great choice for a short business trip. A central location with good service coverage means you'll save time on commuting and have easy access to meetings, dining, and transport. The city center setting also gives you the option to unwind or explore briefly after work. Just make sure the Wi-Fi and workspace in the room are reliable—those are key for business stays.

Dirty rooms and bathrooms, Careless reception crew and it took too much effort from me to get two towels for my room!!!! I picked this hotel for its swimming pool to get my kids some fun and I asked the receptionist about it and showed my the way to it but nerve told me that it is out of service, around two hours after checking in my kids have been dramatically disappointed when they've been told by house keeping staff that swimming pool is out of service !!!
