Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf

Our stay at Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf was nothing short of exceptional. We stayed in a stunning villa that perfectly blended luxury with comfort creating a truly relaxing atmosphere from the moment we arrived. One of the highlights was having access to all the pools across the property, each offering its own unique vibe and beautifully maintained surroundings. It really gave us the freedom to explore and enjoy different experiences throughout our stay. Dining was another standout, being able to enjoy some of the best restaurants in Dubai without even leaving the resort was a huge plus. The staff were so kind and welcoming. Will definitely be back!

Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf is one of the most beautiful and transporting hotels I have experienced anywhere in the world. Its scale is remarkable, unfolding through Arabian-style summerhouses, massive pools and waterways, and wooden abras that carry guests around the property. My room had a rich Moorish character and remains one of the finest hotel rooms I can remember. One detail that captured the level of care was what happened after I inadvertently left my watch out in the room. The staff followed an elaborate security protocol to protect it, a response that felt excessive until I appreciated how seriously they took the responsibility. The dining options were equally impressive, and the recreated souk added atmosphere; I still preferred the original souk in old Dubai. What stayed with me most was how functional the resort felt despite all the opulence. I used the state-of-the-art gym, had an incredible massage in the gorgeous spa, and ran along the beachfront path past the neighboring Jumeirah properties. It also worked well as a base for larger excursions, including a hot-air-balloon ride and a trip to Abu Dhabi. Although incredibly ornate and clearly heavily funded, the entire property felt remarkably tasteful, grand without ever becoming a museum.

I have stayed in many high-end hotels and I have never felt compelled to write a negative review before. Unfortunately, our experience at Dar Al Masyaf has been extremely disappointing and far below the standard one would expect from a property under the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts name. Our check-in time was confirmed for 3:00 PM, yet as I write this it is 5:50 PM and we still have not been given the villa we paid for. Each time we approached the staff, we were told that the situation was “out of their hands” because the previous guests had not yet left the villa. While I understand that operational challenges can happen, it is not the guest’s responsibility to absorb the consequences of poor management. We traveled all the way from Abu Dhabi and paid 11,000 AED for a one-day stay, booking one of the most expensive villas in the property. Instead of receiving what we paid for, we have spent nearly three hours waiting in the lobby while receiving inconsistent explanations from different members of staff. To make matters worse, the temporary solution offered was a one-bedroom suite for a group of nine people, which is frankly unacceptable and demonstrates a serious lack of consideration for guests. The only compensation offered so far has been a late checkout tomorrow, which is quite frankly the absolute minimum and does not begin to address the fact that we have effectively lost a large portion of the day we paid for. Luxury hospitality is not only about beautiful villas and facilities — it is about professionalism, accountability, and service recovery when things go wrong. Unfortunately, what we experienced today was the opposite: poor coordination, dismissive communication, and a complete failure to take responsibility. For a brand positioned at this level, this experience has been deeply disappointing
