Never ever leave reviews but I had to leave one for here. What a beautiful stay from start to finish. The hotel itself is stunning as is the food and cocktails, however the diamond was the staff. Every single person we encountered working there, from the staff at reception, cleaning team, servers, porters and leisure staff were absolutely exceptional. They radiate warmth and hospitality and are a credit to the team and gifted at making people feel comfortable and special. Thanks so much for the wonderful time and will be only staying at The Great Southern when in Killarney going forward.

We just spent 7 nights at The Great Southern. Such a beautiful and historical place. Killarney was a great location/home base for our golf trip. The staff was so welcoming and helpful! A wonderful breakfast every morning - shout out to Kathleen & Bibi & all the kitchen staff! We had a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed. Brownes Bar was fun to have a cocktail in at the end of the day and the food was very good as well. The hotel is in a perfect location to get out and explore charming Killarney. We will definitely stay here again when we return!

Do not trust the pictures on their website of the rooms! At least for us, the room we got looked nothing like what we saw online. The hotel itself, grounds, and lobby are gorgeous. We were so excited and booked a garden deluxe room at over $500 a night. When we arrived, the room looked nothing like the pictures. The pictures have a lovely blue and green updated room as the garden deluxe. Our room was old and red and yellow. It is incredibly dated with the exception of the bathroom which appears to be renovated. The carpet is incredibly worn and there is no hvac. Your only option is opening the windows but then you have all the outside noise coming in. When we checked the bed upon arriving at our room we found the bed was completely covered in urine stains. The front desk thankfully promptly replaced our mattress but at $500 a night I would have expected this mattress to be out of circulation long before or housekeeping to catch this. The room was pretty dusty as well. I went to pick up the fan to set it up and my black outfit got completely covered in dust from it. The redemption was all the service we received was prompt and super helpful and they made it right with a new mattress. The breakfast included each day was robust and delicious. Overall, not a bad stay, but it was not worth the premium price they charge
