Penguin Parade watching at Phillip Island
Melbourne · Australia
About this experience
On Phillip Island, near sunset, little penguins come out of the surf and start to walk up the beach. In groups, waiting for one another and stumbling along, they head for their burrows. The audience watches in silence, a scene that runs on nature's own clock.
The shore wind is cool in the evening, so dress warmly. Do not shine lights at the penguins, and follow staff guidance on photography, as flash is usually not allowed. Staying quiet is the best way not to startle them.
