On the road to Terelj, a huge equestrian statue of Genghis Khan rises from the steppe. A lift takes you up to the horse's head, where an endless green steppe lies before you. The openness between sky and grassland conveys the scale of Mongolia.
The lift makes the ascent easy. The wind on the steppe can be strong, so bring a light jacket. Go up on a clear day for photographs from the viewing terrace. The stop sits on the Terelj road and runs from spring to autumn, so it pairs naturally with nearby nature stops.
